Published purpose

This project will increase the scientific-literacy of the school's students through their research, writing and production of both an initial hard cover book as well as a subsequent audio book based on the adventure of a manned mission to Mars. The high school students engaged in this project will not only increase their awareness of Canadian space science and technology but will also be involved in problem solving some of the challenges related to sending humans to Mars. In addition to the students developing the material with the support of faculty members from a variety of disciplines, the target audience for the books will ultimately be elementary school students. The project's expected reach is approximately 10,800 students in the Calgary area.
