Published purpose
The psychological aspects of isolation inherent to spaceflight are one of the principal risks that require research. The project described here will enrich available psychological analyses through the examination of a variety of data consisting of samples from written text as well as from speech recordings (crew conversations, voice diaries, standard texts) and/or reports collected at regular periods from the crew participating at Concordia missions. Because of the high fidelity of Antarctic stations to space isolation, this study is expected to yield important insights to the risks of human spaceflight.
