Published purpose

The project is entitled 'Analysis and modeling of the ionospheric equinoctial asymmetry using Swarm EFI data and physics-based ionospheric models'. Space weather in the Earth's upper atmosphere (the ionosphere) can interfere with communication and navigation systems. The project team will improve understanding of the ionosphere and its response to space weather as they seek the origins of an unexplained ionosphere-wide variation in its density and temperature. The team will use observations made by Europe's Swarm satellites along with a computational models to support their studies.
