Published purpose

The Research component of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Class Grant and Contribution Program to support Research, Awareness and Learning in Space Science and Technology provides financial support to organizations to conduct space related research and development in priority areas. It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future. More specifically, this project entitled "" Smart materials and coating systems for space applications "" has the objective(s): To train highly qualified personnel with a focus on the processes for the synthesis of smart coating materials with controlled microstructure and performance. The development of these materials has future implications with respect to the protection of satellites and astronauts against the harsh environment of space, the thermal management of satellites, and the development of habitation technologies as well as alternative power generation sources among others.
