Published purpose
The Research component of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Class Grant and Contribution Program to support Research, Awareness and Learning in Space Science and Technology provides financial support to organizations to conduct space related research and development in priority areas. It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future. More specifically, this project entitled ""Development of the Canadian Ionosphere and Atmosphere Model"" has the following objectives: • To establish a prototype (first interactive version) of a whole atmosphere model that extends from the surface to the inner magnetosphere and an associated research program. When achieved this effort would encompass the model and its maintenance, associated scientific activity both in terms of fundamental investigations of this region of the atmosphere and interactions with the observational community. • To provide support to the Swarm and e-POP missions through intercomparisons between the model results and the observations from these missions. The long-term objective of this project is to establish in Canada a whole atmosphere model which extends from the surface to the inner magnetosphere and an associated research program.
