Published purpose

This project will collect measurements of the trace gases, aerosol particles and clouds that are present in the atmosphere over Eureka, Nunavut (80N, 86W) in spring 2015-2017 using spectrometers and other instruments based at the Polar Environment Atmospheric Research Laboratory (PEARL). The measurements will be used to verify and assess the accuracy of two Canadian satellite missions that are monitoring the Earth's atmosphere: the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) on the Canadian SCISAT satellite and the Optical Spectrograph and Infra-Red Imager System (OSIRIS) instrument on the European Odin satellite.
