Published purpose
Remote sensing of surface pressure and aerosol information are both relevant to a better climate understanding. In the project context of “Development and Validation of a Miniature Imaging Fabry-Perot Spectrometer (MIFPS) Through Stratospheric Balloon Flight”, the intent is to design, develop, and validate an innovative instrument. A stratospheric balloon is identified as a highly effective platform for validating this instrument. It will then be ready for long-term climate observations from satellites. The project also aims to foster the continuing development of a critical mass of researchers in Canada by providing a training ground for both the current and next generations of scientists and engineers. Moreover, it provides a unique opportunity for scientists and engineers to work closely together on a space mission, as well as future space missions.
