Published purpose

The project « Manitoba Lunar and Planetary STEM Network (MLaPS) » is designed to expose and train students (from kindergarten to grade 12) in lunar science, exploration and habitation using a variety of educational materials and approaches. A major focus is to use innovative hands-on activities in these areas, such as designing lunar sampling mechanisms, rover-based explorations of lunar analogue sites and assessing different materials for constructing lunar habitats. This project draws on expertise in conducting planetary exploration missions, designing and building technologies and platforms for future Canadian lunar missions, and lunar science.
