Published purpose

Following the JWST ERS and Cycle 1 GO Announcement of Opportunity published on June 14, 2021, the CSA is providing funding via a Grant Agreement to the university to conduct research using the JWST. The project will use the NIRSpec instrument to observe cloud dynamics on the hot Jupiter HD80606 b, whose large eccentricity induces temperature changes on the order of 1000 degrees Celsius. The planned observations will provide important clues into planetary formation and evolution and will also help future exoplanet atmospheric characterization studies by providing a means of more accurately identifying cloud-free targets.
