Published purpose
The proposed project advances research and development to optimize the impacts of Additive Manufacturing structural design and material composition, and the surface finish on space componentry to withstand the extreme thermal environments found in lunar surface exploration. The purpose of this project is to advance the field of Additive Manufacturing with respect to light weighting of structural designs for space hardware, and through the study of alloys and surface finish impact on the mechanical properties of space components undergoing extreme thermal conditions.
