Published purpose

This project aims to develop a space-based optical subsystem (LMU, or Laser Module Unit) for intersatellite communications minimizing size, weight and power (SWAP) while incorporating a booster amplifier, a preamplifier, a beacon and the control electronics. This will allow creating optical amplifiers that will be key subsystems for next generation satellite constellations enabling connectivity through the utilization of optical intersatellite links (OISL). The purpose of this project is to accomplish key developments to ensure that the optical amplifier subsystem meets new and updated specifications for the satellites.
