Published purpose
Following the JWST ERS and Cycle 2 GO Announcement of Opportunity published on July 6, 2023, the CSA is providing funding via a Grant Agreement to the university to conduct their research using the JWST data. This project will map the distribution of dark matter around 16 massive galaxies when the Universe was only 1-2 billion years old. This will be accomplished by constructing robust mass models to account for the observed rotation curves tracing the gravitational influence exerted by the total (luminous and dark) matter distributions. This project will provide key clues on the nature of dark matter by tracing dark matter halos at a cosmic epoch that has been out of reach until now.
