Published purpose

Following the JWST ERS and Cycle 2 GO Announcement of Opportunity published on July 6, 2023, the CSA is providing funding via a Grant Agreement to the university to conduct their research using the JWST data. JWST is the first telescope to be able to probe the chemistry of both clouds and gases in brown dwarf atmospheres. This project will survey a diverse sample of brown dwarfs to establish the range of their atmospheric properties. These observations will offer a broad empirical basis for interpreting both higher-resolution JWST MIRI spectra of brown dwarfs and MIRI spectra of directly imaged or transiting exoplanets.
