Published purpose

This project contributes to improved economic participation and empowerment of women and adolescent girls in Tanzania by strengthening the quality, relevance, inclusiveness, and accessibility of skills development opportunities delivered through Folk Development Colleges and Community-Based Organizations. Project activities include: (1) strengthening institutional capacity to deliver gender-responsive and market-relevant technical and vocational education and training, including the development and revision of curricula aligned with priority economic sectors and labour market needs; (2) enhancing the capacity of tutors, technical staff, and community educators to deliver high-quality, gender-responsive instruction through professional development and improved lesson planning; (3) improving access to inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environments through the provision of information and communications technology (resources, strengthening safeguarding systems, and upgrading facilities and support services for women and adolescent girls, including young mothers; (4) institutionalizing gender equality and human rights approaches within the national skills development system through the integration of gender-responsive curricula, teaching practices, policies, and tools; and (5) increasing community awareness of women’s and girls’ rights and the benefits of their education and economic participation to promote enrolment, retention, and successful transition to economic opportunities.
