Published purpose

This project is part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Aboriginal Youth Internships (IAYI) initiative. The internships focus on increasing the awareness, engagement, and participation of Indigenous youth in international development, while providing them with opportunities to expand their employment skills or further their education. The Comité de solidarité de Trois-Rivières sends 40 Indigenous youth to two countries as part of the Indigenous youth without borders project. The purpose of the project is for the Indigenous interns to provide support to people from the communities of San Ramos, Nicaragua, and Kébémer, Senegal, to strengthen the local economy. The interns contribute to the development of capacities related to sustainable tourism, handicrafts, sustainable agricultural development, and civic and economic rights promotion.
