Published purpose

This project aims to increase the success rate of prosecuting cases of trafficking in synthetic drugs, building on the success and capacities gained through previous Global Affairs Canada (GAC) funding ‘Leading a global response to the opioid crisis – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Opioid Strategy’ Anti-Crime Capacity Building Program (ACCBP) P010146. Project activities include: (1) improving the effectiveness of border management officers and forensic personnel in beneficiary countries to investigate cases of synthetic drug trafficking in a gender sensitive and human rights-based manner; (2) securing and investigating synthetic drugs related crime scenes including detecting and investigating fraudulent documents used in synthetic drug trafficking based on gender and human rights practices; and (3) increasing cooperation between law enforcement and criminal justice system on crime scene investigation and document examination.
