Published purpose
The project supports strengthening Radiological Source Security in Kazakhstan through the removal, transport and consolidation of disused radiological sources from vulnerable storage facilities to a new secure and higher capacity facility. Activities include: (1) the construction of a new long term storage facility for disused radioactive sources at the Institute for Nuclear Physics (INP; and (2) the secure transport and consolidation of approximately 3,500 of these sources from a closed facility at “KazPhosphate DSRS to this facility.
