Published purpose

This project supports efforts to address past harms caused by the conflict in Colombia between the Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). To do this, the project strengthens the skills and knowledge of people involved in the justice process, including staff from the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (SPJ), lawyers who represent victims, and civil society organizations (CSOs). These groups will be better able to help victims access and receive reparations, with a focus on women, children, and people of diverse sexual and gender identities (DSGs). Project activities include: (1) the provision of free legal representation for vulnerable individuals; (2) support for human rights lawyers in handling cases; (3) advocacy efforts with CSOs to combat impunity and promote effective reparations; (4) technical support to the SPJ to facilitate reparations for victims; (5) an internship program for law and social science students to increase judicial analysis within the SJP; (6) support monitoring of reparation processes; (7) analysis of reparation decisions against international standards; and (8) support CSOs to present reparation proposals to the SJP.
