Published purpose

This joint initiative by the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Women (UN Women), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) under the UN Action Network, aims to strengthen a multisectoral, coordinated, and survivor-centred response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) that has proliferated due to gang violence in Haiti. Project activities include: (1) improve emergency medical care for survivors of sexual violence; (2) provide specialized, conflict-sensitive mental health and psychosocial support; (3) offer legal support, guidance, and protection, including safe relocation when needed, for survivors seeking justice; (4) support survivors' recovery and reintegration through grants, mentoring, and livelihood opportunities; and (5) facilitate coordination, information sharing, and data management among participating UN organizations and the Gang Suppresion Force (GSF) to ensure safer, survivor-centered responses to sexual violence and other protection concerns.
