Published purpose

This contribution represents Canada’s institutional support to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The IDB is a multilateral development financial institution that supports efforts by countries in Latin America and the Caribbean to reduce poverty and inequality and to achieve sustainable growth. To achieve its mission, the IDB is working to address the special needs of the less developed and smaller countries and to foster development through the private sector, in order to achieve gains in social equity and productivity; infrastructure, growth, and social welfare; and regional and global integration and also to protect the environment, respond to climate change, and enhance food security.
