Published purpose

The project supports the two committees of Ukraine’s Parliament (the Verkhovna Rada) that are key in the review and passing of legislation required for security sector reform (SSR), namely the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, and the Committee on Law Enforcement. This project works to assist these two committees to initiate, draft, debate, revise, pass, and oversee key legislation that supports SSR, and integrates gender equality and the principles of women, peace and security. Project activities include: (1) providing gender-sensitive practical training and hands-on expert support to the committees; (2) developing a structured approach to inputs from civil society in the legislative and oversight process; and (3) facilitating a series of executive-legislative exchanges, which aim to improve interaction on SSR, including its gender dimensions.
