Published purpose

Newfoundland and Labrador will undertake a two-phased approach to establish a Family Information Liaison Unit (FILU) to respond to the information and support needs of families of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls throughout the national Inquiry. In phase 1, Newfoundland and Labrador consulted stakeholders to inform and recommend a structure for the FILU. During phase 2, the FILU is being delivered and will gather and share requested information with families. The FILU staff will travel to meet families and conduct outreach so that families and the general public are aware of the services offered by the FILU. Newfoundland and Labrador will also coordinate counselling and culturally responsive services for families, to be offered through community-based organizations.
