Published purpose

This project seeks to support the Government of Tanzania in implementing its national coronavirus (COVID-19) response plan. The implementation includes seven integrated interventions that directly contribute to all six pillars of the plan. Project activities include: (1) mobilizing partners and resources for effective COVID-19 responses in high-risk districts; (2) enhancing district capacity to rapidly detect and investigate all suspected COVID-19 cases and manage contacts in affected areas; (3) increasing knowledge among women, men, children, adolescent girls and boys, and key vulnerable groups on COVID-19 prevention and control actions; (4) enhancing the capacity for appropriate COVID-19 case management, including nutrition care, linking case management with social welfare (including mental health and psychosocial support), and infection prevention and control; (5) strengthening community-based surveillance through community health workers and the provision of mental health and psychosocial support services for the timely detection of cases; (6) ensuring the continuity of basic services for health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, HIV, child protection, education and social assistance; and (7) providing logistical support for COVID-19 response interventions.
