Published purpose

Systemic change informed by Gladue Principles to address Indigenous overrepresentation in the criminal justice system; The multi-year project will identify and implement a community driven initiative based on traditional cultural practices to address systemic barriers and discrimination Indigenous people face within the mainstream criminal justice system. A key focus will be conducting a needs assessment that will include consulting individuals who have been impacted by the criminal justice system and criminal justice system professionals. Solutions such as enhanced Peacemaking processes will be developed and implemented with partners in the Carcross community and Yukon Territory.
