Published purpose
The Urban Food Security Net in Tanzania aims to temporarily extend the national safety net to assist vulnerable individuals in urban areas across 10 regions. Project activities include: (1) initiating short-term humanitarian intervention through cash transfers to aid individuals facing food insecurity. This target disadvantaged urban neighborhoods in identified high-risk regions of Tanzania, mitigating the negative impacts of COVID-19; and (2) conducting food security monitoring using a vulnerability assessment and mobile mapping tool across the Tanzanian mainland and in Zanzibar.
