Published purpose

The organization will create a dedicated position to provide trauma-informed, culture-based counselling to families of missing and murdered Indigenous people. The counsellor will maintain a caseload of 25 clients and engage in outreach activities with other service providers. They will provide psychoeducation on the epidemic and connection to colonial policies, as well as therapeutic space for community members to process and heal from trauma. The program will also offer seasonal land-based healing ceremonies to increase access to culturally appropriate healing supports for those impacted by the crisis. The aim is to reduce intergenerational transmission of trauma and support cultural reclamation and reconnection to community and culture.
