Published purpose
This project seeks to strengthen the primary health care (PHC) system in Bauchi State, with a focus on reducing maternal and under-five mortality through the fulfillment of sexual and reproductive rights of women, children, and adolescents. Project activities include: (1) Providing Technical Assistance to the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency to establish a functional gender unit within the agency, develop gender toolkits, guidelines, and plans for PHC and Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) programming; (2) Training frontline health workers on adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive health and gender equality for RMNCAH programming; (3) Training key policymakers and health program managers of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency on Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Gender Equality in PHC and RMNCAH service delivery; (4) Facilitating mobilization exercises for men and boys on positive masculinity and gender-responsive behaviours in RMNCAH services; and (5) Training women support groups on RMNCAH, Gender Equality, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, women leadership, and strengthening women’s agency. The project is expected to reach approximately 1,536,692 women of child-bearing age and 373,400 pregnant women. It will also reach 1,867,005 adolescents and 1,438,903 girls and boys under five years old.
