Published purpose
January 2021 - The ongoing crisis in Syria continues to be a driver of displacement and humanitarian needs throughout the country. Over ten years into the conflict, an estimated 13 million people remain in need of humanitarian assistance. This includes more than 2.7 Internally Displaced People, many of whom live in informal and overcrowded settlements, where access to essential needs and services is inadequate. Years of active conflict and displacement have exacerbated protection risks and increased vulnerability for millions, and humanitarian access to those most in need remains a significant challenge. With GAC’s support, this project works to provide water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services to up to 218,450 beneficiaries. Project activities include: (1) reparating and restorating water distributions, water treatment stations and WASH facilities; and (2) providing essential gender-appropriate hygiene items to vulnerable households.
