Published purpose
August 2026 - Catastrophic flash floods triggered by a glacial collapse struck northern Nepal, causing widespread loss of life and extensive damage to homes, critical infrastructure, and livelihoods across the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading. The disaster left affected communities with urgent humanitarian assistance needs. With GAC’s support, the Canadian Red Cross Society and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are working to save lives and help reduce the suffering of people affected by the floods. Project activities include: (1) distributing of essential relief items including temporary shelter materials, household supplies and hygiene items; (2) providing cash and voucher assistance to displaced and affected households; (3) providing emergency health services including mental health support.
