Published purpose

March 2023 – The crisis in Venezuela has resulted in severe food and fuel shortages, record hyperinflation and the collapse of the health system, putting both food and medicine out of reach for many citizens, and heavily impacting the ability of people to meet basic needs. Over 7.1 million people have fled Venezuela since 2015, many of whom are currently residing in neighboring countries such as Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. In addition, more than 7 million people need humanitarian assistance in Venezuela, including health assistance, food security and nutrition, and water, sanitation and hygiene support. With GAC's help, this project helps address the essential health needs of crisis-affected people, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach communities in Venezuela. Project activities include: (1) providing quality primary health care, including SRH assistance; (2) providing emergency mental health and psychosocial support; (3) providing GBV services to survivors; and (4) training of health personnel.
