Published purpose

This project aims to mitigate chemical weapons and chemical terrorism threats and support the full and effective implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1540. It does so by addressing challenges related to the transfer and trade of chemical weapons precursor chemicals. This phase seeks to conduct broader outreach to the primary end user group (i.e. customs officers engaged in trade control) and raise awareness of chemical export control regime enforcement gaps. Project activities include: (1) conducting outreach to customs organizations; (2) facilitating 2 virtual workshops; and (3) holding a chemical management-focused UNSCR 1540 sustainable development goals roundtable.
