Published purpose

July 2024 – Starting on July 1st, 2024, hurricane Beryl swept through the Caribbean as a category 4 hurricane, causing significant destruction particularly in Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Jamaica. Hurricane Beryl is among the worst storms to hit these countries since records began in 1851. Over 1.1 million people are estimated to be affected in the region, including 940,000 in Jamaica. With GAC’s support, the WFP helps provide lifesaving assistance to crisis-affected people in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, and Jamaica. Project activities include: (1) distributing immediate food assistance; and (2) providing emergency cash assistance and logistics services.
