Published purpose
The specific objectives of the project are to: Develop and formalize the structure of the paramedics regulatory consortia group; Reach consensus on 4 national levels of practitioners (common designation); Develop nationally agreed on common scopes of practice for each of the 4 practitioner license levels; Finalize and agree on a competency profile that will serve as the national standard, and therefore a common inter-provincial standard for licensure; Develop an inter-jurisdictional exam for entry to practice levels for the current designations of Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) and Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP); PCP and ACP cover 80% of the Canadian Paramedics); Develop a framework for a common national assessment of internationally trained Paramedics; Research issues of common interest.
