Published purpose

This project seeks to increase access to electricity for nearly 75,000 individuals (12,500 households) in more than 292 rural communities, thereby helping to improve their quality of life and economic opportunities. By providing access to electricity, the project also aims to help communities implement productive activities. Project activities include the following: (1) extending the electrical distribution network, including lighting, internal facilities and connections; (2) supporting commercial initiatives to promote rural development through the efficient use of electricity; (3) training women owners of small businesses; (4) providing training on gender equality principles and local economic development opportunities related to the newly acquired access to electricity; (5) providing support for institutional strengthening of the National Company for Electrical Transmission (ENATREL) to facilitate fieldwork.
