Published purpose

The project aims to increase the food security of men, women and children in targeted areas in South Sudan. It seeks to increase fish harvests and to introduce commercially oriented fishing practices in fishing communities. Activities include: (1) the construction and improvement of basic infrastructure like fish-receiving centres, collection points, landing sites and markets in strategic areas along the rivers; (2) the provision of training to men and women on fishing techniques and fish processing; (3) the creation of business associations and training for women on business development; and (4) the provision of technical support to the state government to conduct fish stock assessments.
