Published purpose
This project aims to increase empowerment of women and girls aged 14 and over who have been deprived of the right to education, in selected health areas in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Community learning centres will provide space for 3,500 women and girls to access basic education and professional training. Also, these trainings will support participants to develop income-generating activities and microenterprise, and increase access to reproductive health information and services. Project activities include: (1) training local public institutions on gender equality, government gender equality policies and development of local policies; (2) providing reproductive health information, consultations and family planning to women and girls by local health professional; (3) training women and girls on technical and entrepreneurship skills for launching small-business or income-generating activities; (4) sensitizing community members on gender equality and women and girls’ right to education; and (5) providing personalized, gender-sensitive learning programmes to women and girl learners.
