Published purpose

The project develops responses to "global bads", particularly illicit financial flows. The initiative gathers evidence to identify the global bads that are most susceptible to development interventions. Using that evidence, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Network on Governance (GovNet) produces a guidance document recommending principles and approaches for development action to address illicit financial flows. The OECD GovNet then facilitates international coordination to address global bads, including through the organization of an international conference where participants share best practices. This project results in more informed development responses to counter global bads and thereby make an important contribution to global efforts to diminish them. Global bads are a potential spoiler to Agenda 2030, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 16 which includes targets on establishing rule of law and combating illicit financial flows and terrorism.
