Published purpose

This project contributes to the joint donor Education Sector Support Fund (FASE) to respond to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the national education system in Mozambique. FASE funds support Mozambique’s Ministry of Education and Human Development in providing children and adults with access to quality education and literacy programs so that they learn and succeed. This project provides additional funds to the Ministry to implement specific activities of its COVID-19 Response Plan during the 2021 academic year. Project activities include: (1) sensitizing school communities on COVID-19 symptoms, forms of transmission, and prevention and control measures; (2) adjusting teaching and learning methods to enable schooling to continue, including using radio, television and online distance-learning programs and providing psychosocial and violence prevention programs; and (3) promoting the safe return to school by ensuring access to water, sanitation and hygiene to meet COVID-19 prevention measures and the needs of girls and children with special needs.
