Published purpose
This project is part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy. The IYIP is designed to offer Canadian post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience in international development. Bow Valley College, in a consortium with College of the Rockies and Selkirk College, sends 84 interns to nine countries. The internships positions help to support the economic growth, democracy and education of children and youth in those countries by working closely with local organizations. Activities include: conducting research and analysis on gender equity issues, raising awareness of gender inequality issues at the institutional and community levels, working with local governments to support rural development projects using renewable energy, and researching sector best practices in greening early childhood education curriculum.
