Canada World Youth

Published purpose

This project is part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Aboriginal Youth Internships (IAYI) initiative. The internships focus on increasing the awareness, engagement, and participation of Indigenous youth in international development, while providing them with opportunities to expand their employment skills or further their education. As part of the Pathways to Indigenous Youth Leadership project, Canada World Youth (CWY) sends 102 Indigenous youth to Colombia and Peru. For intern recruitment, CWY delivers the project in partnership with Canadian organizations with extensive national networks. Interns support local partners in the following areas: agricultural development; engagement of marginalized groups; recycling; reforestation; youth entrepreneurship; health; environmental education; and youth entrepreneurship.
