Published purpose

This project is part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Aboriginal Youth Internships (IAYI) initiative. The internships focus on increasing the awareness, engagement, and participation of Indigenous youth in international development, while providing them with opportunities to expand their employment skills or further their education. In consortium with the Centre d'amitié autochtone du Saguenay, the Centre de solidarité internationale du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean sends 30 Indigenous youth interns to Ecuador as part of the Indigenous solidarity: Canada-Ecuador project. Internship activities focus on support for sustainable agricultural practices, fair trade and, especially, the transfer of Indigenous knowledge in Ecuador through the production of a documentary on traditional cultivation methods and knowledge transfer.
