Published purpose
The project aims to increase the effectiveness of United Nations (UN) peace support operations by improving its ability to protect and support victims of sexual exploitation and abuse. Sexual exploitation and abuse are among the most hindering factors for effective peace support and undermine the trust amongst the host communities towards the UN. The project also seeks to strengthen the collaboration among peacekeeping, the UN and local actors in addressing the issue. Project activities include: (1) providing specialized support to complainants, victims, and children born as a result of sexual exploitation and abuse; (2) engaging in community outreach; (3) addressing service gaps in the provision of assistance and support to complainants, victims, and children born as a result of sexual exploitation and abuse; and (4) providing additional support and communications for complainants, victims, and children born as a result of sexual exploitation and abuse.
