Published purpose
March 2018 - Niger continues to face significant humanitarian challenges related to food insecurity, malnutrition, and forced displacement. The expansion of the conflict in Nigeria has led to more than 400,000 people in need and the highest levels of food insecurity in the country. It is expected that humanitarian needs remain high in Niger’s Diffa region throughout 2018. With GAC’s support, Action Against Hunger is addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of up to 28,650 people in the Diffa region. Project activities include: (1) providing reproductive health care services benefiting almost 4,000 women; (2) constructing family latrines, benefiting up to 1,400 people; (3) creating advocacy documentation on health, nutrition and water, sanitation and hygiene; and (4) distributing gas kits for domestic use, to reduce cooking-related costs and therefore increase the purchasing power of households, benefiting up to 1,100 people.
