Published purpose
This project aims to establish a global framework for managing biological emergencies caused by deliberate events. This includes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to clarify guidelines for providing international assistance to beneficiary States in response to a potential deliberate biological event and for delivering and coordinating such assistance. Project activities include: (1) developing a biological emergency management framework and Standard Operating Procedures; (2) drafting working papers to identify existing challenges and propose options to guide assistance requests under the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC); (3) setting up a coordination platform to facilitate information exchange; and (4) conducting a simulation exercise to test and refine activities 1 to 3.
