Published purpose

The project aims to develop the capacity of the Government of Yemen to coordinate the mine action related activities of governmental, non-governmental and private sector actors, in order to ensure hazards posed by explosives are efficiently removed. The project also works to support the Government of Yemen to increase the number of trained, qualified and equipped de-miners active in the country. Project activities include: (1) mapping of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) contamination; (2) clearing ERWs in priority areas, using internationally recognized mine clearance standards; (3) awareness-raising of threats posed by ERWs in affected communities; and (4) providing support and rehabilitation to survivors of ERW incidents.
