Published purpose
DFATD is undergoing significant transformation, aligning the application landscape to the functional needs of the department, and the emerging Government of Canada (GC) landscape of transformations. SID is a Bureau in DFATD which delivers IM/IT services. SID is migrating to a new data centre and leveraging this change to assess applications to retire, replace, re-platform and modernize driving changes in supporting infrastructure as well as identifying increased needs to be Cloud ready across the full spectrum of Cloud services SaaS, PaaS and IaaS. The SISR Division was created in order to both be ready for new IT consumption models - such as Cloud services - AND to facilitate how the various elements work together to reduce risk for the organization. SISR will: Provide a holistic and integrated view of core/foundational IT evolution; Integrate the technology backbone to deliver the present while preparing for the future; Ensure DFATD has up-to-date, easy to access and easy to consume foundational systems; and Decreases the risk associated with modernization/ replacement/ upgrades. In order for Application Modernization (AppMod) Programme to be successful it needs to consider the needed skills, capabilities and mindsets that will be needed for this organization to be successful in the migration of over 200 applications and approximately 1983 servers from the SSC legacy data centers to various other locations such as, but not limited to, Enterprise Data Centers and Cloud. The Programme includes multiple projects and activities for which the resources will be responsible. The resources will be required to evaluate the current application landscape and develop and implement a migration plan. They will be required to provide guidance and recommendations for aligning the existing suite of applications to a new destination. 2001344 The Contractor will also be required to assist DFATD in deploying and maintaining a comprehensive application development and hosting environment in the Public Cloud meeting Protected B security requirements as per Treasury Board Guidelines available at https://www.canada.ca/en/government/system/digitalgovernment/ modern-emerging-technologies/Cloud-services/government-canada-security-control-profileCloud-based-it-services.html.
