Published purpose
Other Professional Service Not Elsewhere Specified We are nearing the end of a 5-year contract with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) to maintain seven sets of standards related to cells, tissues and organs for transplantation and blood and blood components: • Cells, tissues, and organs for transplantation: General requirements • Tissues for assisted reproduction • Tissues for transplantation; • Perfusable organs for transplantation; • Ocular tissues for transplantation; and • Lymphohematopoietic cells for transplantation. • Blood and blood Components A number of these standards have been incorporated by reference in either the Safety of Cells, Tissues and Organs (CTOs) for Transplantation Regulations or the Blood Regulations, thus making them regulatory requirements. The CSA Technical Committee is currently actively working to consider changes to the Men Who Have Sex With Men (MSM) screening requirements for CTOs, for example.
