March 2019 – On March 14, Cyclone Idai, a category 2 storm, made landfall near Beira, Mozambique, and continued its journey, causing significant loss of life, damage, flooding and displacement. The cyclone and its associated tropical depression will ultimately have claimed more than 800 lives and severely affected the livelihoods of more than 3 million people in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
