UNVIM works to review requests from commercial vessels, inspects vessels approaching these ports in Djibouti port or conducts inspections in international waters. Project activities include: (1) ensuring that all shipping companies apply for UNVIM clearance, which conducts verifications, inspections and desk reviews; and (2) ensuring that once a vessel has completed discharge operations in the ports of Hodeidah, Saleef and Ras Isa, the vessel is inspected again, and its hull is scanned before departing the port
