Published purpose

This project aims to develop more responsive, inclusive, participatory, and representative decision-making within government institutions in Myanmar. Project activities include: (1) advocating for the Union Electoral Commission (UEC) to advance reform efforts, particularly, those addressing observer recommendations and stakeholder concerns before the 2020 elections; (2) supporting the UEC’s Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group in implementing a robust monitoring strategy for their 2019 to 2022 strategic plan; (3) supporting the UEC to expand the reach and impact of its professional training program; (4) assisting the UEC to improve its data collection, analysis and publication; (5) supporting the UEC to improve its outreach to expand inclusion efforts and incorporating recommendations from the post-election review; (6) supporting the UEC to expand its gender inclusion and women’s empowerment programming; and (7) supporting women leaders to take on formal roles in the elections and empowering women in rural communities with the skills and knowledge to become active in the 2020 elections.
